AU Highlights Progress in Africa

In her speech at The 26th Ordinary Session of the Permanent Representatives Committee, President of The African Union Commission, Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, stated that she is fully aware of developmental issues in the continent. However the Zuma was fast to stress how the vast progress in economic growth equated to the stabilisation of peace and better democracy. Here’s a quote from a report on allAfrica.com.

Zuma pointed to stimulants in the form of economic growth, public investment, infrastructure and regional integration in Africa, as well as improvements in governability and democracy, peace, stability and a number of human development indicators. She also underlined the merit of the founding fathers of the OAU as she noted, they had to build new independent states and develop a vision and plans for continental integration.

2013 marks the 50th anniversary of the African Union Commission.
