Nigeria Signs $1.3bn Electricity Plant Deal With China

Deal designed to ease energy bottleneck that is restricting Nigerian growth.

A new plant to be built at Zungeru as the result of a $1.3bn deal between Nigeria and China. The plant will generate up to 700 megawatts, create thousands of skilled jobs and provide electricity for the power starved country.

Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjolweala said This project will create thousands of jobs for Nigerian engineers, technicians and artisans during the construction phase … It will also boost the economy

The loan from China’s Eximbank bank will pay for 75% of the power plant.
