Zimbabwe Acts as Gambling Surges

Citizens are taking up gambling as a way of life, causing the government concern

Bloomberg reported today that the Zimbabwe government has taken action to arrest the speed of gambling shops opening up in the country. Gambling is quickly becoming a way of life for some Zimbabwean citizens.

Unemployment is currently at about 90% in Zimbabwe and desperation is forcing some people to start betting to make a living. Bloomberg reports Deputy Home Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi as saying We need to control betting, because we can’t be betting everywhere… There are now too many operators.

The government will no longer issue gambling licenses in an attempt to control the boom and protect individuals.
